Description

SM5142W Tacky Tape® has been formulated for the wind energy market and aerospace industry as low temperature vacuum bag tape for vacuum bag applications and composite manufacturing that require no to low temperature heating or curing.  The tape is formulated to seal most films to tools while positive vacuum is held for room temperature applications.  For optimum results, strip tape from composite tools at ambient temperature.  The primary characteristics of the tape are high modulus, tesile strength, and adhesion.

Application

Apply by hand to a clean dry tool or platen with release paper on top.  When the sealant is in position remove the release paper and lay the film on top.  Apply pressure by hand or roller on the sealant to obtain maximum adhesion to ensure positive vacuum.  SM5142W can be stripped without leaving residue on metal tool surfaces that have been cooled to room temperature (77°F).
